Why I'm Running

I'm running because I believe that there is something very wrong today in our nation's capital and it's time to take a stand.

I served as legal counsel to the United States Senate Judiciary Committee. I helped draft the legal language to keep terrorist prisoners locked up in the military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. I won't go into all into all the horrible things they've done. But let's be clear—these are evil men and they want to do evil things to you, your family, and those you love.

Now, President Obama wants to grant these terrorists access to our civilian courts. Or, even worse, release them altogether.

These are not local punks who held up a 7-11. These are hardened killers who want to inflict as much damage as possible and end our way of life.

There is something very wrong in Washington when we want to let the terrorists go and instead prosecute the CIA agents who interrogated them.

There is something very wrong in Washington when we are giving bailouts to big corporations yet doing nothing to help middle class workers who are losing their jobs and their homes.

There is something very wrong when jobs are being shipped overseas, the government forces socialized medicine down our throats, and raises taxes on energy, yet they even can't even build a border fence to keep illegal aliens out?

There is something very wrong when an American citizen, who has never been involved in politics, takes the time to go to a town hall to voice his opposition to government-run health care, yet is told by his elected representative to sit down and shut up.

The media and Democrats in Washington say we are ignorant, misinformed, and angry.

They are right about one thing. We are angry. And it is time to do something about it!

Ecclesiastes 3:1 states, "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven."

I believe there is a time for bipartisanship and a time to work together to find some common sense solutions.

But when President Obama and liberal Democrats try to ram through a health care scheme that forces us to pay for abortions and decimate our economy with corporate bailouts and wasteful "stimulus" spending, only to tell us to "sit down and shut up" when we question their actions, friends, that is not the time to work together.

It is time to take a stand.

My campaign is about making sure Washington hears you loud and clear.

We can do this. We can stop Obama and Pelosi and liberal Democrats who are threatening our country and our children's future.

But it will not happen if you sit on the sidelines, or if we continue with business as usual.

We can not again fall victim to the same old tired Republican rhetoric and the same old "say one thing during the campaign time and do the opposite when in office" won't deliver positive change. We must demand better.

The media may ignore you, your politicians in Columbia and Washington may sell you out, but I will make sure your voice is heard!

I hope to earn your trust and your vote. I promise to do all I can to protect those principles that have made our country great and to be a true voice for you and your family in Washington, DC.
